1. Those survivor and adventurer who are traveling in remote regions, one thing they should not forget to bring along is a Survival Kits.

2. A Survival Kits is a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as an aid to survival in an emergency.

3. Usually, a Survival Kits is always placed in ones pocket or waist pouch. It is intended to remain always upon ones person and reachable at any conditions.

4. We will show you how to prepare a mini survival kits which is truly practical for a survivor and adventurer consisting of a basic equipments for coping with short-term survival situations.

Step 1 : Single Out an Appropriate Container

a) There is no standard size for a Survival Kits but generally the size is around 9cm x 6cm. Usually people use an empty tobacco tin box as their Survival Kits container. Do not choose a big container because you may find it inconvenient to carry with.

b) Why we use a tobacco tin? Because it is waterproof, well fortified, indestructible even you accidentally drop it in a paraffin wax. You can also polish the inside of the lid to make a mirror-like reflecting surface for the SOS signal.

Step 2 : Basic Contents in a Survival Kits

a) Matches – Dip the matches’ heads in a melted candle to make them waterproof.

b) Candle + Cotton Wool – Extremely useful for starting a fire.

c) Flint – Tools for starting a fire. A flint will produce sparks when struck against steel.

d) Magnifying Glass – Tools for starting a fire and useful for searching for splinters and stings.

e) Needle and Thread – Useful for repairing or making clothes in an emergency.

f) Fish Hooks and Line – Useful for catching fish and bird.

g) Snare Wire – Brass wire length around 2-3 ft. Useful for making animal traps.

h) Beta Light – Self-illuminating light requiring no batteries. Useful for map reading.

i) Medical Kits – Panadol, Pain Killer, Chi-Kit Tek Aun Pill, Anti Malaria Pill, ENO and Piriton (for allergies).

j) Dental floss (100m) – Useful for making string.

k) Wiesel – Useful to draw attention of Rescue Team

l) Condom – Not totally for sex my buddies…yeahh. It is good to be a water-bag (able to hold 1 liter water).

5. Regularly do check your Survival Kits contents, changing any which deteriorate or expired materials such as matches and medicine. Remember to top up or replace the contains when necessary.
